This 6 week course is designed to introduce you to Aikido and our dojo. If you were ever curious about trying a martial art or Aikido specifically and wanted a taste of all the benefits it has to offer, then this is the course for you. We will learn some basic Aikido techniques, and safe ways of getting to the mat. The course will offer an introduction to Aikido principles and philosophy. It will be taught by Ania Small, 6th degree black belt in Aikido and one of the chief instructors at Aikido of Maine.
 
This 6 week introductory course is also a great gift option for the Japanese culture enthusiast in your life! Please note that this must be paid for prior to the start of the first class in order to guarantee a spot and a uniform. After signing up, you will be sent an email with instructions on payment, along with some information about Aikido of Maine, details on what to expect during the course, and fun tidbits on Japanese culture and Aikido.

The Dojo Is located at 226 Anderson street, Portland  

 
 

 

           During this 6 week course, we will cover:

Safe and proper ways to take falls 

Techniques from grabs and strikes

Dojo etiquette and Japanese culture

Introduction to the short staff – jo  

Introduction to sword – bokken

 

Course Schedule, Each class is 1 Hour and 15 Minutes Long
